FAQs
Do you paint armies or gaming miniatures?
Moss & Memory is not a traditional miniature painting service. We don’t offer batch painting or tournament prep. Every piece is a handcrafted art object, created with narrative intent. While some clients may use their commissioned character or diorama in roleplay or gameplay, the focus is always on artistry and story—not speed, uniformity, or tabletop utility.
I noticed only single miniatures on your site—do you offer dioramas?
Dioramas are very much part of Moss & Memory’s vision. While they’re not yet visible on the site, they are available by request and in progress for future display.
Can I choose the exact colours or direct the project?
All commissions are collaborative—but the creative control remains with the artist. You're commissioning a vision, not a product. Together, we’ll shape the emotional tone and intent—but the final design and execution is guided by the studio.
Do you do free work for exposure or reviews?
Not typically.
Moss & Memory is a narrative art studio, not a promotional service. Every piece is created with deep care, professional intention, and storytelling at its core. Free work would diminish that integrity, and past experiences have shown it rarely leads to lasting value for either party.
That said, select collaborations may be considered if they align with the studio’s values, offer true creative freedom, and represent a meaningful exchange—not just exposure. Think: a shared love of story, craft, and wonder. Not just numbers.
If you’re a creator or collective with a genuine vision for working together, you’re welcome to get in touch. But please understand: no “free for review” requests will be accepted.
What materials do you work with?
Miniatures may include parts from official Games Workshop® kits, high-quality 3D prints, or custom sculpts. Dioramas often involve mixed media, natural materials, hand-built terrain, and layered textures. All work is designed for display purposes, and will be treated as such.
How long does a project take?
Timelines vary based on complexity. Average turnaround is 4 - 8 weeks due to project rotation and commitments, You’ll be informed of the expected timeframe when your project is accepted.
Terms & Conditions
Artistic Control
All Moss & Memory commissions are collaborative but creatively led. Once a project is accepted, artistic freedom rests with the studio. Clients are welcome to share inspiration and stories—but the final execution is shaped by our unique style, intuition, and narrative craft.
Payment & Pricing
All commissions begin at £150. A 50% deposit is required to secure a place, with full payment due before shipping. All prices reflect bespoke, handcrafted artistry—not bulk services.
No Rush Orders
Art takes time. Most pieces are completed within 4–8 weeks depending on scope, and clients will be kept informed. We do not accept rush requests.
Revisions & Returns
Due to the handmade, one-of-a-kind nature of each piece, revisions after the finalised concept of the piece are not offered. Returns are not accepted unless the piece is damaged in transit.
Ownership & Use
Clients receive the physical artwork. Moss & Memory retains rights to images and may use them in portfolios, online galleries, or promotional materials. Please ensure you credit us when sharing your piece.
Communication Boundaries
We value thoughtful, respectful correspondence. Excessive messaging, demands for updates, or attempts to override creative control may result in cancellation.
