These are not just dioramas.
They are offerings.
He Walks, Therefore.
A Meditation in Frost and Footsteps.
-
“The snow fell soft upon the worn road as he walked, each step a quiet memory pressed into the earth. Once, he bore a banner—now only silence trails him.
His sword, wrapped in cloth and oath, has not sung in many seasons. But his eyes still search the horizon, not for enemies—but for the place he lost himself.
In a village long buried by time, beneath bent trees and broken gateposts, he made a promise to the dying. And though no one waits for him now, he walks still,
for honor does not fade with snowfall.”

This relic is reminiscent of the legendary Akira Kurosawa and his famous epics from the mid 20th century. It is a scene soaked in curiosity and invites the viewer to ponder, to wonder and to imagine:
Why is this Ronin here?
I had the idea of the state of Zen in mind when creating this artwork; to utilise empty space in a way not often seen in miniature art.
The Ronin’s story calls.
Do you answer?

Sculpt Attribution Note:
The base miniature used in this piece was sourced some time ago, and the original sculptor or manufacturer is currently unknown. If known, full credit would be given. While I did not sculpt the original Ronin figure, the concept, composition, painting, and transformation into a complete diorama are the sole work of Moss & Memory.
This is an original, one-of-a-kind artwork—shaped by story, and brought to life through Mosscraft.
Grymloch, The Mireborne.
An ancient being, hidden inside a reliquary of primordial power.
-
“Witness thee the epitaph of Grymloch, the Mireborne. For only in whispers can the tale be told:
In the drowned hollows where sunless waters seep and rootbound trees lean low, there walked a thing the world once knew by name—though time has since buried it under silence. They call him Grymloch, when they dare speak at all.
Born not of mother nor forest beast, but of stone split wide and soul stitched shut. A troll, yes—but more besides. For deep within him stirs the echo of magic old as moss, drawn through him like stormlight caught in clay. His bones carry boulders that gleam faint-blue beneath the grime, as though some cruel sorcery is still alive within their core. And in the night, they say, the stones sing in tongues that even druids fear to name.
Moss clings where memories should be. Algae shrouds what little kindness might have dwelled behind those sunken eyes. He was not made cruel. But long solitude in the mire teaches cruelty as a language, and Grymloch has learned it well.
Some say he waits. Others say he forgets. But all agree—when you hear the stones hum, it is already too late.
He owns no gold.
He bears no crown.
He resonates.
And the spirits listen.”

Grymloch was born from a quiet, ancient place in my imagination—where earth, stone, and memory entwine.
I sought to create not a monster, but a lord of the ancients: something that felt found, as though it had always existed, waiting to be unearthed.
His form was shaped through intuition more than planning—weathered skin, moss-laden shoulders, and sorrowful eyes all emerged naturally as I worked.
Every decision, from the muted tones to the living cradle of his box, was made to honour a single idea: that Grymloch should feel older than story, a forgotten guardian of a world lost to time.

This relic was gifted to another world, as it was simply too powerful to remain in this one.

The base Troll miniature used in this piece is designed by Mammoth Factory. I purchased this from a respectable 3d print company in the UK (via Etsy). While I did not sculpt the original figure, the concept, composition, painting, and transformation into a complete diorama are the sole work of Moss & Memory.
